A hearty baked spaghetti casserole layered with ground beef marinara, creamy cottage cheese, and melted mozzarella.
1 pound spaghetti
1 pound ground beef
1 yellow onion, chopped
4 cups marinara sauce
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
2 large eggs
5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
2 cups cottage cheese, divided
4 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded and divided
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. Cook spaghetti 2 minutes less than package directions and drain.
3. Brown beef and onion for 5–6 minutes; drain excess fat and stir in marinara.
4. Toss spaghetti with salt, eggs, and melted butter.
5. Layer half each of spaghetti, cottage cheese, meat sauce, and mozzarella; repeat.
6. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
7. Uncover and bake 15 minutes more, until bubbly and golden.
Ricotta can replace cottage cheese.
Drain excess grease from the ground beef before adding marinara.
Refrigerate cooked leftovers for up to 3–4 days.
