Experience the comfort of traditional German flavors with these crispy, air-fried cabbage dumplings. Featuring a light, savory batter mixed with fresh, finely shredded cabbage and onions, each dumpling achieves a golden, crunchy exterior while remaining tender on the inside. This wholesome, meat-free dish is perfectly seasoned with fresh parsley and takes minimal time to prepare, making it an ideal choice for a quick and satisfying dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups finely shredded cabbage (savoy recommended)
1 cup all-purpose wheat flour
1 cup whole milk
2 large eggs
1 medium onion, finely diced
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Whisk flour, milk, and eggs in a large bowl until the batter is silky and lump-free.
Fold in the shredded cabbage, diced onion, and chopped fresh parsley.
Season the mixture with salt and pepper to your preference.
Preheat the air fryer to 350°F for 2 minutes and melt the butter inside the basket.
Ladle portions of the batter into the heated air fryer basket, leaving generous spacing between each scoop.
Air fry until the dumplings are golden brown and cooked through, approximately 13 minutes.

Notes

Ensure the cabbage is shredded very finely to allow for even cooking with the batter. Fresh parsley is highly recommended over dried to maintain the dish’s brightness. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure the dumplings develop a uniform, crispy crust.
