Use russet potatoes for a thicker soup or Yukon Gold potatoes for a buttery texture.
Mash more potatoes for a naturally thicker consistency.
Add extra warm milk or broth if the soup is too thick.
Use vegetable broth without unwanted animal-derived ingredients.
Do not boil after adding the milk and cream.
Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for 3–4 days.
For best freezing results, freeze before adding the dairy.
