A hearty, farmhouse-style savory breakfast bake that is prepared the night before for an easy, delicious morning.

Ingredients

1 lb Ground Turkey Sausage or Beef

1 small Onion, diced

1 Bell Pepper, diced

8 cups Cubed Sturdy Bread (Sourdough or French)

2 cups Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese

8 Large Eggs

2 cups Whole Milk

1 tsp Dry Mustard

1/2 tsp Paprika

Salt and Black Pepper to taste

Fresh Chives for garnish

Instructions

1.Brown the meat with onions and peppers in a skillet until cooked; drain fat.

2.Place bread cubes in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish and top with the meat mixture.

3.Whisk eggs, milk, dry mustard, paprika, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.

4.Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and meat in the dish.

5.Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top and press down lightly to submerge bread.

6.Cover with foil and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.

7.Preheat oven to 350°F and bake covered for 20 minutes.

8.Remove foil and bake for another 20-25 minutes until golden and the center is set.

Notes

Use day-old bread for the best texture and absorption.

Let the dish sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before baking.

Garnish with fresh chives or green onions for a pop of color.
