A warm, comforting dessert featuring caramelized bananas and a buttery, cake-like crust inspired by Southern classics.
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup whole milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
4 large ripe bananas, sliced
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1.Preheat oven to 350°F and melt butter in a 9×13 dish.
2.Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
3.Stir in milk and vanilla until smooth.
4.Pour batter over melted butter (do not stir).
5.Top with banana slices and cinnamon.
6.Bake for 35–45 minutes until golden brown.
7.Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
Use overripe bananas for the best flavor.
Do not stir the batter into the butter.
